Workshop: Field Essentials for a Successful Site Engineer
As part of the ongoing collaboration between Microtech and the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Basra Branch, a specialized training workshop titled “Field Essentials for a Successful Site Engineer” was held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Syndicate's headquarters in Basra.
This workshop aimed to enhance the practical capabilities of young engineers by equipping them with essential field knowledge and preparing them to face the daily challenges encountered on construction and engineering sites.
The initiative came in response to the urgent need to improve the hands-on competencies of field engineers, as applying engineering knowledge in real-world environments requires precision, continuous follow-up, and strict adherence to technical standards and safety regulations.
Key topics covered during the workshop included:
- Site Management and Daily Work Organization: Effective task distribution and scheduling aligned with project timelines.
- Monitoring Execution Stages on Site: Ensuring construction activities conform to approved drawings and specifications, and managing on-site challenges.
- Reading and Interpreting Engineering Drawings: Understanding technical details to minimize execution errors.
- Coordination with Teams and Contractors: Building strong working relationships with all project stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow.
- Adhering to Occupational Safety Procedures: Ensuring personal safety and protecting the workforce from potential hazards.
The workshop witnessed strong engagement from participants, featuring open discussions, Q&A sessions, and hands-on activities that helped reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical application. Additionally, the exchange of experiences among participants added a realistic and collaborative dimension to the training.
At the end of the workshop, all attendees received free participation certificates, reflecting the shared commitment of the Syndicate and Microtech to support active engagement and encourage engineers to further develop their professional skills.
